MAV(S)erick mitochondria: an unconventional role for mitochondrial antiviral signalling protein in pulmonary fibrosis

چکیده
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, progressive, age-related interstitial lung disease. Incidence of IPF in the USA ranges between 14 and 63 per 100 000 people [1]. The average survival rate from time diagnosis 3–5 years. associated with several genetic environmental factors. Genes risk for developing generally fall into two categories: epithelial cell genes ( e.g. MUC5B , DSP SFTPA2 ABCA3 ) or involved telomere maintenance TERT TERC RTEL1 [2, 3]. Mitochondrial antiviral signalling protein (MAVS) mediates by regulating cGAS-STING senescence programming

An important role for mitochondrial antiviral signaling protein in the Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus life cycle.
UNLABELLED Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) has been shown to be recognized by two families of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and NOD-like receptors (NLRs). Here we show that MAVS and RIG-I (retinoic acid-inducible gene 1), an RLR family member, also have a role in suppressing KSHV replication and production. In the context of primary infection, w...
متن کاملPulmonary Rehabilitation in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: A Chance for a Multidisciplinary Treatment Approach
Background and Objectives: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is characterized by progressively worsening lung function, ventilation capacity, dyspnea, and finally reduced exercise intolerance. All of these have a significant negative impact on functional capacity and quality of life. In this study, we aim to evaluate the effects of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in IPF and assess the predictor...
متن کاملRole of Mitochondria in Ataxia-Telangiectasia: Investigation of Mitochondrial Deletions and Haplogroups
Ataxia-Telangiectasia (AT) is a rare human neurodegenerative autosomal recessive multisystem disease that is characterized by a wide range of features including, progressive cerebellar ataxia with onset during infancy, occulocutaneous telangiectasia, susceptibility to neoplasia, occulomotor disturbances, chromosomal instability and growth and developmental abnormalities. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDN...
متن کاملAn essential role for CCAAT/enhancer binding protein beta in bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis.
Pulmonary fibrosis is characterized by inflammation, genesis of myofibroblasts, and abnormal tissue repair. Despite extensive research, its pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. Previously, the transcription factor CCAAT/enhancer binding protein beta (C/EBPbeta) was found to be a key regulator of myofibroblast differentiation in vitro, and to be involved in the acute phase and inflammat...
متن کاملWhy translation counts for mitochondria - retrograde signalling links mitochondrial protein synthesis to mitochondrial biogenesis and cell proliferation.
Organelle biosynthesis is a key requirement for cell growth and division. The regulation of mitochondrial biosynthesis exhibits additional layers of complexity compared with that of other organelles because they contain their own genome and dedicated ribosomes. Maintaining these components requires gene expression to be coordinated between the nucleo-cytoplasmic compartment and mitochondria in ...
